Berkshire Sausage Wins National Pedigree Pork Sausage
Championship The Grand Final of the British Pig Association inaugural National Pedigree Pork Sausage competition was won by a Breakfast sausage home made by Glebe Farm Berkshires. Glebe Farm in Warwickshire has been retailing its pedigree Berkshire Pork from a small farm shop in Warwickshire, for nearly two years and has built up a local reputation for its home made range of sausage. Winning the heat at the BBC Good Food Show in London, Glebe Farm narrowly took the Supreme Championship by just one point beating Mr Swift from Wales, Herby Sausage into second place. The Grand Final was scheduled to be part of a two day extravaganza for the BPA at the Smithfield Show, due to be held at the Bath and West Showground. However, the Show became another victim in the round of show cancellations. The sausage competition survived and went ahead as part of the BPA's Annual General meeting. Qualifiers from across the whole of the UK attended and such was the interest, representatives travelled the long way down from Scotland to bring the Scottish entries. A fun competition that anyone can enter so watch the BPA news for 2008 and lets see if the Berkshires can do the double. Related: The latest recipes are perfect for Berkshire Sausages! |
