From Your President Dear members, I am honoured and delighted to be re-elected again for this post, I believe that I am the first Irishman to have achieved this. Firstly, I must comment on the Champion of Champions held last September at the Royal County Of Berkshire Show. I was in the happy position of judging this special event of the "cream" of Berkshire Pigs, all Champions in their own right This show is the perfect setting for Champion of Champions held within a few miles of the spiritual home of the breed. I am sure that everyone appreciated the magnificent spectacle of 14 of the nicest Berkshire pigs anyone could wish to see. I eventually after a long deliberation placed The Barnfield's pretty sow as Supreme champion (a fine example and a really feminine brood sow) and Mrs Mills' s senior boar in reserve bred by Eeles and Hutchinson a good-bodied individual with great "presence". Sandra and I were very pleased to have
played a part in this event. I should like to record my thanks to John
Mason for his kind sentiments expressed in the previous newsletter. We
went on holiday to U.S.A for six weeks the day after the show and so
missed the publication of the Newsletter, our thoughts were conveyed
perfectly. |
