The British Pig Association
To maintain the integrity and develop the potential of
Britain's unique genetic heritage of pedigree pig breeding stock for the
benefit of the Association's members through the management of the
independent national pedigree database and the promotion of pedigree
pigs to domestic and international markets.
National Pig Association The NPA is active on behalf of members, in Brussels and Whitehall, and
with processors, supermarkets and caterers, fighting for the
growth and prosperity of the UK national pig industry.
The Rare Breeds Survival Trust
Founded in 1973 the RBST is a registered charity funded
entirely on membership subscriptions, donations and legacies. Conserving
rare breeds is not a matter for sentiment. They are an essential part of
greener farming systems helping the environment and improving the
quality of the food we eat.
Rare Breeds
Conservation Society of New Zealand There are a number of
rare livestock breeds currently found in New Zealand. These range
from breeds for which numbers are so small that their survival is
endangered, to minority breeds which need to be kept under
surveillance. The Rare Breeds Conservation Society of New Zealand
was formed to conserve, record and promote these breeds with the
particular aim of maintaining genetic diversity within our livestock
species.
The Meat and Livestock
Commission The MLC works with the British meat and livestock industry to improve
its efficiency and competitive position, maintains and stimulates
markets for British meat at home and abroad, while taking into account
the needs of consumers.
DEFRA
Defra works for the essentials of life - water, food,
air, land, people, animals and plants. Also, a Guide for New Pig Keepers. Amongst all the
information available on the DEFRA website, this is a good site
with alot of basic information that both new pig keepers, and
possibly even existing ones may find useful. It has alot of
reference information/other links and sites that may help
people.

Staffordshire Smallholders Association The Staffordshire
Smallholders Association aims to improve the knowledge and skills of
all those interested in the small farming way of life.
The British Pig Executive
The British Pig Executive have part funded a new web site for small
scale producers and farm shops, butchers etc selling top quality
pork to promote their businesses and get closer to the consumer.

South of England Rare Breeds Centre
The South of England Rare Breeds Centre, Nr Ashford,
Kent. As well as fun day at the farm for all the family we are a
RBST approved centre breeding Berkshire pigs and many other rare
breeds of farm animals.
