Obituary: Gordon and Gregory 2000-2010
Uploaded November 2010

I lost my very much loved boys at the end of June. I found Gregory dead in one of the paddocks, an awful shock and 4 days later Gordon died suddenly. This was most likely brought on by the shock and stress of losing his litter brother. It was terribly sad and I am absolutely heartbroken. Both deaths were due to old age but this doesn’t make it any easier.

They have been the most wonderful pets anyone can have. They were Freight Train boars bred by Ian & Maggie Todd, and their father was bred by Jo Wykes-Sneyd.

Pet pigs have become very popular recently, and Kune Kune and Miniature pigs sell for very high prices. I agree that they are cute, and smaller than Berkshires but I can’t understand why people dont consider a Berkshire if they want a pet pig. My boys gave me and other people enormous pleasure and although they were naughty, especially Gordon, they were completely trustworthy. My friend’s Grandson aged 8 enjoyed hand feeding them.

.If I had literary skills, I could write some great stories of their adventures, particularly Gordon and important members of the Teignbridge District Council which owns land adjoining mine. Their Chief Surveyor used to inform me of some of the things they got up to, but said what lovely friendly pigs they were. The Council joked about employing Gordon as he was such an expert on drainage works!

I have recently bought another 2 little Berkshire chaps from the Todds. They were born on 17th July and arrived at my premises on 26th September. Their father is the son of Gordon and Gregory’s father so they are quite closely related. They are lovely little chaps and I know they are going to make great pets but Gordon and Gregory will never be forgotten. With the help of my friend’s Grandson the new boys have been named Rodney & Sidney.
