The Gillhouse Trophy 2003

The Gillhouse Trophy, kindly sponsored by Viki Mills again this year, to promote, encourage and reward entrants in the Show Ring, was keenly contested by our members . Points are awarded according to a schedule published at the beginning of each season for results in classes through to Breed and Inter Breed Champion and Pig of the Year Qualifiers from Shows up and down the country, weighted to take into account the more prestigious Shows.

A schedule is attached summarising all those points sent to me by our members. I am pleased to receive results for all the pigs, even though the contestants may think they are not likely to be in the top three where the prize money and rosettes are, because it gives a lot more interest and information for the future. I also know there were other members who could have claimed a substantial number of points, possibly not in the top three but certainly of significance and interest to our readers.

This year the returns were very good and accurate and I hope those who took part will do so next year plus all those of you who show your pigs because all Shows are eligible if judged by a judge on the B.P.A. judging list. This year we were able to make the presentation immediately after our Champion of Champions final at Newbury and Sandra Byrne presented the GILLHOUSE TROPHY
and Rosettes to Christine Coe and Kevin Major who have had an excellent season with their superb pigs and secured both first and second place with Charles Bull in third place.
