Berkshire Champion of Champions Competition Judging for this prestigious event took place on Sunday morning, again bright and sunny, under the beady eye of Guy Kiddy. We were honoured to have the company of Hilary Bruce from the PG Wodehouse Society who have sponsored this competition for several years now, and who do so much to promote the Berkshire breed. There were 15 entries forward, the Breed Champions from shows all around the country this year and the Championship went to Dittisham Lady 36 Sue F ildes who qualified at the Mid Devon Show and the Reserve to Fairoaks Peter Lad 6 Chris Impey (Three Counties). Many thanks to Guy for judging this competition, there were some excellent pigs forward and it was not an easy task for him to choose the two winners. The Cup, Sash and Salver were once more presented by Sarah Clarke, the daughter of the late Jo Clarke - well-known breeder of Berkshires and a founding member of the Club. As well as the above Berkshires, Sue's winning sow Peverell Suzanne 4 had a litter of beautiful three week old piglets on her, which attracted a lot of attention from the public. Outside there was another litter, this time Hampshires, kindly supplied by Sharon. There is no doubt that the public do love to see piglets. I think all exhibitors would agree that a good time was had by all. We started loading up from 3.30 and I arrived back in Suffolk about 7p.m. after a slow drive up the M25. As I said, a very sociable show, and it would be good to see some new exhibitors at the 2010 show next September.
