From the Chairman: I must first of all say a very big thankyou to our out going chairman Viki who has put her heart and soul into the club and kept us all on track. I am glad that she has accepted the Presidency as I will be on the phone and e mail regularly for advice. Also very many thanks to David Webb for all his hard work. It is going to be very hard to follow Viki but I will try my best.

It seems that the breed is holding its own and enquires for weaners and breeding stock are good. There does seem to be a shortage of breeding boars especially older working boars so please if you have a boar that is good enough and still producing good litters then advertise him on the site as there is probably someone who could use him.

The club is strong and we have a lot of plans in the pipeline with new stand boards which will hopefully be displayed at all the shows across as much of the Country as possible next year. We have introduced regional reps so members will have a closer point of contact should they wish to discuss ideas or need advice.

We are introducing new incentives to encourage more breeders into the show rings as the Berkshire
breed needs more new exhibitors to ensure the future of the classes at the shows. We are also holding a workshop at Chris Coe's which she has very kindly offered to host, details of which appear here. Please put the date in your diary.

Please remember to tot up your Gillhouse Points as you go through the season and if you can remember I would appreciate any qualifiers for Newbury By e mail as it saves me chasing. The show season is now well under way remember that your pigs should be registered with the BPA before they go in the ring not after, take care and have fun.
